Shared trips: one journey, everyone's memories

Group trips create the best stories — and the most scattered photos. With YouVisited, everyone on the trip adds to one shared trip: the plan, the photos, the memories. And everyone keeps their own travel map.

One trip, not five copies of it

A shared trip in YouVisited is a single trip that several people belong to. Change the dates and everyone sees the new dates. Add a photo from the boat and it appears for the whole group. There's no duplicating, no “can you send me that picture”, and no one keeping a separate version.

Trips can cover several countries and cities, with a cover photo, description, category (holiday, road trip, backpacking and more) and practical notes for bookings and packing lists.

Invite friends and choose their role

  • Owner — creates the trip, invites friends, manages roles and can remove participants or delete the trip.
  • Editor — adds memories and photos and can update the trip's details.
  • Viewer — sees everything on the trip without changing it. Ideal for family following along from home.

Invitations arrive as notifications. Your friends can accept or decline, you can cancel an invitation before it's answered, and anyone except the owner can leave a trip at any time. You're notified when people join and when they add something new — grouped, so ten photos don't mean ten pings.

Everyone keeps their own map

Being on a trip doesn't mean you went everywhere on it. Maybe you flew home before the others carried on to Croatia. So joining a shared trip never changes your map. After the trip, each person ticks the destinations they really visited, and only their own travel map and statistics update.

A shared travel journal with sensible privacy

Memories added to a trip live in the shared trip and in the author's own travel journal. Each memory has its own visibility, so you can share most of your photos with the group and keep a private diary entry just for yourself.

The owner chooses who outside the group can see the trip: anyone who can see their profile, friends, or only the people on the trip.

Free for everyone in the group

Shared trips only work if everyone can join, so collaborating is free — no one needs to upgrade to accept an invitation or add memories. Create your account, add your friends, and start your first shared trip. Want to see your map first? Try the countries visited map.

Frequently asked questions

Does everyone need a paid plan to join a shared trip?

No. Accepting invitations and collaborating on shared trips is free for everyone.

Will joining a trip mark its countries as visited on my map?

No. Each traveller confirms the places they actually visited, and those visits are added to their own map only.

What's the difference between an editor and a viewer?

Editors can add memories and photos and update trip details. Viewers can see the whole trip but not change it. Only the owner can invite people, change roles or delete the trip.

Who can I invite?

You can invite people you're friends with on YouVisited. They get a notification and can accept or decline.

What happens to my memories if the owner deletes the trip?

Your memories stay in your own travel journal. They're simply no longer attached to the deleted trip.
